HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR
This year as always my mother will be carrying on the family tradition of preparing a Nonya banquet for the Chinese New Year Eve family reunion dinner. Although now in her mid 80s she is still determined to recreate the array of dishes I remember enjoying as a child growing up in Singapore. I wonder how at her age she still has the energy to pound her curry paste, prepare the myriad of ingredients and serve up a banquet to her children, grandchildren and their partners. She does not even have the benefit of using speedy food processors and blenders which are essentials in my kitchen.
For the celebration at my home this year I’ll be taking the easy option of using my Nonya Secrets sauces to prepare a Chinese New Year Eve dinner. Family and friends will be treated to a Nonya banquet which I’m sure will be equally as good as Mum’s. The difference being the fraction of time that it will take me to prepare this banquet whereas my mother is likely to be slaving in her tiny kitchen from dawn to dusk.
Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be sharing some of my recipe tips in preparing a Chinese New Year dinner using my sauces. These will be available from our website and posted on social media. If you would like to get this information from me personally do come and see me at the market stalls or stockists where I’ll be promoting the pick of the sauces for Chinese New Year. Look out for the dates on twitter.
To help celebrate the New Year, we are offering 7 sauces for the price of 6 – just input the coupon code CNY2018 when viewing your cart to receive your discount.
